Dr. Herman Wahid received his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation and Control) in 2000 and his M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering (Mechatronics and Automatic Control) in 2007 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He then received his Ph.D. from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Australia, in 2013. His doctoral work focused on computational intelligence approaches in the application of air quality control and prediction.
He has five years of industrial experience since graduating in 2000. He joined UTM in 2005 as a Tutor and was appointed as a Lecturer in December 2007, then as a Senior Lecturer in June 2013. He has served as an Associate Professor since 2024. His research interests include metamodeling, artificial intelligence (neural networks, fuzzy logic control, particle swarm optimization), applied control engineering, waste energy harvesting systems, and air quality control and modeling.
